How much is your tattoo? That’s a really good question! In fact, it’s the most Frequently Asked Question and often the main thing a future client wants to know.
Our calendars work in blocks of time. The difficult part is figuring out how much time you need.
There’s a rough way to tell based on your palm. Think of one palm sized image as about 2 hours if it’s black & grey ink. 2 palms worth of space is going to be around 4 hours and so on. This applies to your ribs, your thigh, your arm, your back, your neck, whatever. Mark moves roughly that fast. If it’s more line based, and the lines aren’t super-dense and ultra skinny, expect to shave a little bit of time off. If there are a lot of fine details or shading expect to tack a little bit of time on. Mark is near-compulsively thorough and tries to be calm and efficient as possible. He’ll tell you how much time is left. If you have the budget, you can let him cook, but do what works for you. If you use less than the block’s allotted time, it’s charged at the smaller block’s rate (See below about getting your money’s worth).
Coritha has one flat hourly rate of $150 across all sessions. Like Mark, you can request multiple pieces in a single sitting and likely get a more cost-effective result than asking separately. She is still finding consistency, so using the palm method isn’t quite as accurate on every spot of the body. Ribs, neck, or other sensitive areas may take a little longer.
Seriously, get your money’s worth.
We’re both going to make something from scratch – there’s no avoiding that, understand what you’re buying. It’s always custom, and it costs you nothing extra. It’s just part of the process, and part of the value you’re getting for something that’s forever.
With either of us, the more information we have on what you want, the more likely we’re going to nail it, and the more likely it will flow out faster.
If you’re truly mad, you can book a session today, walk in with a picture and ask for it to be exact. It’s not very fun, and it’s a waste of your money unless you value the convenience more, which is also understandable. But still, you can have something more unique for zero dollars extra. Here’s some tips to get the most bang for your buck:
- Give us examples, tell us what you like about them and why. (You might hate such-and-such flower, but you love the way it’s shaded, etc.) We’ll pick up on stuff like that.
- Let us know what part of your body you’re thinking about getting tattooed. Some ideas may fit better in certain areas. You pay us to think about this stuff.
- It’s a good idea to give your artist at least a day to work on the design.
- It’s possible to book the same day on the calendar, but you should be really descriptive of what you want.
- Try not to rush: time is money, but quality takes time.
- Your skin can heal and be tattooed again 🤯
- Most clients choose from multiple designs, or parts of the design, on the day of their appointment.
- Changing the size to be larger at the last minute is going to cost you time. A small nudge is negligible, twice as large is likely twice the time.
- If you’re the type that needs to see it to believe it. Give your artist about two weeks and ask for a review in one week. You can see sketches in person and explain what kind of tweaks you’d like to see before we finalize it.
- If you use less than a block’s allotted time. You’re charged as if it’s a smaller block. There’s a sweet spot where if you’re 15 minutes to the next block, you might as well take it because it’ll cost less overall. (Finishing a 2 hour session in 1:30 saves $50. Finishing in 1:45 is no difference, take the extra :15 to add highlights or double check everything.)
- Lines are typically executed faster. You can outline multiple tattoos in single sitting, wait for them to heal, and shade them at a later date.
- Splitting with a friend or family member is an easy win for both of us. You split the cost, and we get extra portfolio pieces. You can add a guest to your booking in the calendar form.
- Only one person is in the chair at a time. Make sure you’ve gotten all you wanted before switching.
Other things that are awesome and free:
- You get a transparent second-skin bandage after the session, not plastic wrap (lol)
- You get aftercare ointment for healing after removal of the bandage.
- You get unscented soap in a neat foam bottle.
- You get skin balm to keep your skin fresh after the tattoo heals.
- You get one touch-up to make sure your fresh ink stays put! (but you have to be fast and vocal about this one, let us know within the month.)
- There’s a big television with a lot of streaming services for your +1, or you if you want to watch something while getting worked on.
C’mon, look at all of that. That’s insane. Anyway, below are some examples of tattoos performed within a certain block’s time limit:

Hope that helps!
