Background
I’ve drawn since childhood. I drew in classes, after school, and when I should’ve been sleeping.
Then, one day I’m an adult drawing in meetings. And some days, while drawing in those meetings, I’d wonder if I was on the right career path (I was not.) I was there to make internet art but learned to code instead. While coding itself was fun, there wasn’t much room for the art. I had become alienated.
Around a year before lockdown, I got fed up with the constant sniff-test of coder interviews and decided to try another path with tattooing. It nearly killed me: I was struck by a car (ha-ha.) The recovery process made me even more intensely devoted – I stuck it out, and now here I am with a studio. Because of the previous job, you get cool things like a smooth and easy automated booking process. So it’s all part of the journey, right?
Art & Style
I have some unique quirks for a tattoo artist – I’m fairly versatile, but highly technical.
Of course I can draw, but I like to try and push my other creative talents into my process. In the above gallery; the whirlpool, the dragon, the skull and hourglass, and the scorpion are 3d renders. The marbleized (suminagashi) half-sleeve, and the Polynesian manta are vector art – It keeps them crisp and gives you options… sometimes too many options. But hey, y’know… sometimes I just paint the stencil on your skin with markers and brushes.
I have favorite kinds of projects to work on, but I don’t specialize exclusively in any particular style. I consider myself a generalist, but my experience, process, and personality give me an affinity for precise fine-line designs, though I just enjoy tattooing in general.
Tattoo Time With Me
Here are some common things I’ve heard clients say across ~1400 sessions:
- Easy-going
- Light-handed / Gentle
- Thorough
- “Is that new? That wasn’t here the last time I got a tattoo.”
